The Resonance I LED Wall Sconce from Roll & Hill, designed by Brooklyn-based Christopher Merchant, has a roughly circular, free-edged outline with a glazed surface that ripples outward from a tight concentric spiral at the center. Made from ceramic, it sits flush against the wall and lets light spill from behind the disc, washing the surrounding surface in a soft, even glow that makes the texture read clearly when lit.

Friday's relaxed evening made me like this wall sconce more than I did on the first day. I specifically wanted the LED version, so this stayed on my short list. I like it most when the room is being lived in rather than perfectly styled.

Setting napkins made the upstairs landing feel more resolved with this wall sconce in place. The longer it is here, the less I think of it as a new purchase.

Rainy morning at home was when this wall sconce started feeling completely at home in the upstairs landing during coming home after dark. It has been easy to live with on ordinary days. The everyday routine has been a better test than any first impression.

THE REVIEWS

Testimonials

  • Warm color and super cozy shape

We put this sofa in our front living room and it instantly made the space feel more finished. The caramel brown color works really well with our wood floors and older rug. It’s soft but still supportive, and the rounded shape makes it feel more unique than a regular couch. This was just a quick phone photo, but the sofa looks very close to what we hoped for.

  • Finally found a table that doesn’t make our room feel crowded

We have a pretty small living room, so I was worried this table might feel too big, but the oval shape actually works really well with our sectional. My husband set it up right after work and I took this photo before we even cleaned up the room properly. The top is easy to style, but what I like most is that the rounded edges make it easier to walk around, especially when the kids are running through here. The gold base also looks nicer in person than I expected — not too shiny, more of a soft brushed tone. Overall, it makes the room feel finished without feeling like a showroom.

  • A little dressier than our usual furniture

We put this in the guest room of our older house, and it made the room feel much less plain without having to redo everything else. The shell pattern is subtle in person, but it catches the lamp light in a really pretty way. The dark top is a bit deeper brown than it looked online, which actually works well with our old oak floors. One drawer was a little stiff the first few days, but it has loosened up since.
