High design meets high technology. The Flos Viscontea Suspension features a uniquely formed White powder-coated steel frame, over which the "cocoon" resin shade is sprayed-on to create the overall airy, alien-looking form. This delicate structure is protected by another sprayed-on transparent finish on top. Originally designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1960.

The whole gathering area came together once this light became part of the space. The overall setup feels intentional without becoming precious. It settled into the room more easily than I expected. The room feels better for having it there.

For the gathering area, this piece turned out to be the final decision that made everything else make sense.

This suspension light changed the open-plan space without making it feel like a full redesign. My first impression was more cautious than my opinion after living with it for a while. The everyday routine has been a better test than any first impression. The placement took one small rethink, though I am happy with where it ended up.

In our open-plan space, the biggest difference is how much more intentional the space feels now.

THE REVIEWS

Testimonials

  • Warm color and super cozy shape

We put this sofa in our front living room and it instantly made the space feel more finished. The caramel brown color works really well with our wood floors and older rug. It’s soft but still supportive, and the rounded shape makes it feel more unique than a regular couch. This was just a quick phone photo, but the sofa looks very close to what we hoped for.

  • Finally found a table that doesn’t make our room feel crowded

We have a pretty small living room, so I was worried this table might feel too big, but the oval shape actually works really well with our sectional. My husband set it up right after work and I took this photo before we even cleaned up the room properly. The top is easy to style, but what I like most is that the rounded edges make it easier to walk around, especially when the kids are running through here. The gold base also looks nicer in person than I expected — not too shiny, more of a soft brushed tone. Overall, it makes the room feel finished without feeling like a showroom.

  • A little dressier than our usual furniture

We put this in the guest room of our older house, and it made the room feel much less plain without having to redo everything else. The shell pattern is subtle in person, but it catches the lamp light in a really pretty way. The dark top is a bit deeper brown than it looked online, which actually works well with our old oak floors. One drawer was a little stiff the first few days, but it has loosened up since.
